What happens when I call to book?
When you call our intake line you will complete a brief assessment over the phone to discuss your presenting concerns and therapy needs. After you complete your intake, you will be connected with a therapist based on your requests and to arrange a consultation or appointment time. If you already know who you would like to book with, that’s ok too! Just let us know.
Are phone consultations available?
Yes! At ITS we believe that matching with the right therapist can be one of the most important aspects of therapeutic success. That’s why we offer free 10 minute phone consultations as an option before you book. These consultations allow the opportunity to ask questions and “meet” your therapist beforehand. If for whatever reason you don’t click with your therapist, let us know and we would be happy to work to find you a better fit.
Will the cost of my session be covered by insurance?
Most insurance companies do provide coverage for counselling services. However, not all insurance plans allow direct billing. Therapists at ITS can direct bill to Alberta Blue Cross, Greenshield, Medavie Blue Cross, the Cooperators, Veterans Affairs Canada, Calgary Police Service, Workers Compensation Board of Alberta, and a variety of religious organizations across Alberta.
How long will I have to wait before my first appointment?
We recognize that there are times where crisis occurs and you may need to come in for counselling as soon as possible. The staff at ITS are proud to offer flexible booking options which allows you to be seen as soon as possible.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that life can be unpredictable and there may be times that you are unable to attend your appointment. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment we request 24 hours notice.
Do I get to choose my therapist?
If you have a specific therapist that you would like to see, please let us know at intake and we would be happy to accommodate. Otherwise, our intake specialist will discuss your specific needs during your consultation and refer you to the therapist that is best suited to you.
Do you offer evening and weekend appointments?
ITS is pleased to provide appointments Monday to Saturday. All of our therapists work evenings and would be happy to book a time that works for your schedule.
Our office is conveniently located 10 minutes from downtown. There is an abundance of parking available with no charge and a bus stop directly in front of the building. There is elevator access within the building and the ITS office is wheelchair accessible.
