About Us

About Us

We created Integrated Therapeutic Services with the future of mental health care in mind. This means easy to understand therapy that is flexible to your needs. Our approach is about treating people like people, not disorders. We offer you the services of hospitals and expensive private treatment facilities at a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the discomfort. At the end of the day we want you to have total control over your care and easy access to Calgary therapists.

How can we help?

We are a multi-disciplinary team of Calgary therapists. This means you have different kinds of professionals with varying experiences, training and knowledge all dedicated to you and your wellbeing. We have a variety of strategic partners meaning we give you access to all of the services you might need such as Psychiatry and Psychological Testing. Not enough? Let’s work together to figure out what you need and we will get to work accessing our professional network to connect you to the services you need.

Our therapists are able to provide direct billing to a variety of major insurance providers, making the therapy experience easier. We are pleased to direct bill to Alberta Blue Cross, Greenshield, Medavie Blue Cross, the Cooperators, Veterans Affairs Canada, Calgary Police Service, Workers Compensation Board of Alberta, and a variety of religious organizations across Alberta.

We provide group therapy for a variety of concerns.  ITS therapists have spent years running various group therapy programs and we have discovered that most participants find the experience extremely rewarding. In today’s world our lives are growing more and more isolated, group therapy gives you the opportunity to address common mental health issues while connecting with people who share your experiences.

The ability to grow in order to meet client needs. We pride ourselves on flexibility to create specific group programming such as in home therapy teaching nights, education sessions structured as “lunch and learn” in the workplace, or developing programming for your particular circumstances. Our goal is to improve access to Calgary therapists, which means we’re happy to come to you!

Calgary Therapist

Patrick Higgins

Mr. Higgins obtained his Master’s degree in Social Work with a clinical specialization from the University of Calgary in 2015. He is registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers and authorized to perform psychosocial interventions. Mr. Higgins has spent the bulk of his career working within forensic mental health settings, where he has developed a
specific interest in providing assessment services and program development. He feels this allows the shared human experience to guide his practice, ensuring public safety and basic human dignity are respected.

Mr. Higgins has worked with Alberta Health Services (AHS) in a maximum-security inpatient forensic psychiatric hospital and a community-based forensic reintegration facility. In these roles, he actively provided treatment and capacity assessment services to individuals found ‘Not Criminally Responsible due to Mental Disorder’ by the courts. As one of the
first clinicians hired within the newly established program, Mr. Higgins routinely participated in program development, leading several initiatives, including specialized victim programming, the cultivation of community reintegration opportunities, and family/caregiver engagement services. He also chaired the AHS Addictions and Mental Health Ethics Committee and has presented on topics such as barriers to community reintegration at the Northern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Conference.

Mr. Higgins has been employed by AHS at a provincial corrections centre since 2017 as part of the newly established Rocky Mountain Provincial Sexual Offender Treatment Program. In this role, he has served as the primary developer of the Intake and Triage process, streamlining access to treatment guided by the risk-need-responsivity model of offender treatment. He regularly conducts risk and mental health screening assessments for clinical treatment planning within this process. Additionally, Mr. Higgins works as one of the program clinicians, providing direct patient treatment in both group and individual settings. In his facilitation role, he has developed many of the materials used in the treatment process and shares responsibility for implementing adjunct treatment options that are not part of mainstream programming, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Mr. Higgins is a founding member of Integrated Therapeutic Services (ITS), which he and his partners began operating in 2020. In this role, he provides both forensic and general mental health services. While Mr. Higgins has excelled in his clinical therapeutic endeavours, ITS has allowed him to pursue his specific interest in assessment services. Since the
establishment of ITS, Mr. Higgins has regularly completed forensic risk assessment reports to inform the criminal court process, immigration proceedings, licensing body hearings, and record suspension applications.
